The Glock 17 Gen 5 – it’s always an engineering challenge to take a great product and make it better. Glock Engineers have done just that with the new Gen 5. Some may think that the adage of “don’t change something if it works so we well,” should be adhered to. In the highly competitive world we live in manufacturers just don’t have that indulgence.
No Re-design just for the sake of Re-design.
The Gen 5 is new, sure, but the modifications are indeed all genuine improvements. These are not mods just to make a new model look different. A Korean car manufacturer may be temped to do that. Not Glock. All this was done while not deviating and remaining true to the brilliant core design. Perfection may have just got perfect.
Glock 17 Gen 5 So whats new?
Glock 17 Gen5 nDLC finish on barrel and slide
Tougher and more durable finish offers increased protection against corrosion and scratching.
Glock 17 Gen 5 slide stop lever
Now left and right handed shooters can manipulate the slide stop lever easier safely and comfortably.
Glock 17 Gen 5 flared mag-well
The larger opening of the flared mag-well makes it easier to funnel a magazine into the mag-well especially useful stressful situations.
Glock 17 Gen 5 removal of the finger grooves
The grip is now definitely more comfortable than Gen 4’s for the majority of users by removing these grooves. The Gen 4 RTF (rough textured finish) is retained.
